Scholarships of the Government of the Slovak Republic
Description:
Slovak government scholarships have long been a part of Slovakia's official development assistance (ODA), which itself is a programme and project activity of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs within the international community.
The scholarship is only for the study conducted in the Slovak language. If applicant cannot speak Slovak, he/she has to pass a 10-month Slovak language course (such course is also covered by the scholarship).
Eligible Applicants:
The Government of the Slovak Republic annually awards scholarships for Bachelor, Master and Doctoral degree programmes to students from countries eligible for Official Development Assistance. The list of eligible countries may vary every year.
Slovak government scholarships, under OECD-defined conditions for conducting official development assistance, include awarding the Slovak government scholarship to persons with Slovaks Living Abroad status.

National Scholarship Programme
Description:
The National Scholarship Programme (NSP) of the Slovak Republic supports study/research/teaching/artistic mobility of foreign students, PhD students, university teachers, researchers and artists at higher education institutions and research organisations in Slovakia. The scholarship shall cover scholarship holders’ living costs (accommodation, board, etc.) during their study/research/teaching/artistic stay in Slovakia.
The Programme supports only short- or medium-term mobility (1 or 2 semesters in case of university students; 1 – 10 months in case of PhD students, university teachers, researchers and artists), not full degree studies at Slovak universities.
Eligible Applicants:
Citizens of any country in the world (except the citizens of Slovakia) can apply for a scholarship stay in Slovakia in the framework of the NSP.
The National Scholarship Programme of the Slovak Republic (NSP) supports also mobility of students and PhD students studying at Slovak higher education institutions (or in case of PhD students, students studying at external education institutions, e.g. the Slovak Academy of Sciences) with a permanent residence in Slovakia at higher education institutions and research organisations abroad.

Programme Action Austria – Slovakia, Co-operation in Science and Education
Description:
It is a bilateral programme aimed to intensify the cooperation in the area of education and science between Austria and Slovakia. The Ministry of Education of the SR and the Federal Ministry for Science and Research of the Republic of Austria finance the programme on the basis of an agreement signed in 1992. The programme is administered by SAIA.
Eligible Applicants: Individual Scholarships are offered for students and PhD students from Austria and Slovakia. Except for individual scholarships the Programme supports also joint co-operation of PhD students via co-operation projects.

J.W. Fulbright Commission for Educational Exchange
Description:
The J. W. Fulbright Commission for Educational Exchange in the Slovak Republic has been established by executive agreements between the United States and the Slovak Republic to promote the educational, research and cultural exchanges between the United States and the Slovak Republic through the Fulbright Program.
Eligible Applicants: The Fulbright program enables U.S. citizens and Slovak citizens to participate in study, research and teaching exchanges in Slovakia and U.S.

The International Visegrad Fund
Description:
International organization founded by the governments of the Visegrad Group (V4) countries—the Czech Republic, Hungary, the Republic of Poland, and the Slovak Republic. The purpose of the fund is to facilitate and promote the development of closer cooperation among citizens and institutions in the region as well as between the V4 region and other countries, especially in the Western Balkan and Eastern Partnership regions. The fund operates several grant programs, and also awards individual scholarships, fellowships and artist residencies.
Grant support is given to original projects namely in the areas of culture, science and research, youth exchanges, cross-border cooperation and tourism promotion, as well as in other priority areas defined in calls for proposals published on the fund’s website.
Eligible Applicants:
Any natural person or legal entity is eligible to apply for grant support with the exception of organizations of state (central) administration institutions. Preference is generally given to those projects submitted by not-for-profit entities (NGOs/CSOs, foundations) and public institutions (schools and universities, research institutes, etc.). Applicants from outside of the V4 region can win support provided that their proposed projects deal with the V4 region and meet all formal requirements, such as having V4 project partners.

CEEPUS - Central European Exchange Program for University Studies
Description:
The CEEPUS Programme is a multilateral international programme supporting the cooperation between higher education institutions from member countries through academic networks.
CEEPUS members are: Albania, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, and universities in Kosovo.
The programme supports:
- semester stays for BA/MA students and PhD students (3 - 10 months)
- short-term stays for BA/MA students and PhD students working on their final theses or dissertations (1 - 2 months, min. 21 days)
- stays for guest university lecturers (1 month, min. 5 working days and 6 lectures given).
Eligible Applicants:
BA/MA students, PhD students and teachers of higher education institutions (universities) eligible for the programme in their home country can apply for a stay in Slovakia (check the eligibility at your home National CEEPUS Office). Students of the Bachelor´s degree need to have completed at least two semesters by the time of their stay within the CEEPUS Programme.
There are two categories of applicants:
• network applicants – applicants whose department/faculty/institution is participating in a network approved within the CEEPUS Programme (the list of all networks is available at www.ceepus.info, see top menu > Network),
• freemover applicants – applicants who wish to apply for a stay from and/or to an institution not participating in any of the networks approved within the CEEPUS Programme.

ERASMUS +
Description:
Erasmus+ is the EU's programme introduced in 2014 that combines and replaces the existing programmes for education, training, youth and sport. It enables students either to study at higher education institutions (HEI) or to realise vocational training in companies in the European Union countries.
Lenght of study mobility: 3-12 months
Lenght of training mobility: 2-12 months
The same student may receive grants for studying or being trained abroad totalling up to 12 months maximum per each cycle of study (1st – Bachelor, 2nd – Master, 3rd – PhD)
Eligible Applicants:
Student of HEI in EU Member states or states participating in Programme. Student mobility can be realised according the signed agreement between HEIs. Check out if your University has signed Erasmus+ agreement with STU here.

April 1 to June 10 - application period for winter semester or summer semester or the whole academic year.
September 1 to November 10 - application period just for summer semester.
