The Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST). On this occasion, the STU Faculty of Informatics and Information Technologies agreed with the MUST Faculty of Innovative Engineering on specific cooperation within the students and researchers’ mobility.
The Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation Agreement were signed by Joseph Hun-wei Lee, the Dean of the MUST Faculty of Innovative Engineering, and Ivan Kotuliak, the Dean of the STU Faculty of Informatics and Information Technologies in Bratislava, in the presence of Oliver Moravčík, the STU Rector.
"We are deepening cooperation with universities on the Asian continent, famous for their high level of technology research and considered as valuable partners for us in the field of innovation, which is inevitable for the growth of STU and Slovakia," stated Oliver Moravčík, the STU Rector.
"Systematically building relationships with Asian leaders strengthens the STU position as a regional leader in IT education and IT innovation," added Ivan Kotuliak, the STU FIIT Dean.
Both institutions intend to develop academic and cultural mobility in education, research and other areas. Cooperation should include mobility of students and employees of both faculties, joint research activities, participation in seminars and academic meetings, as well as exchange of academic materials and other information. Special short-term academic programs both during and extra semesters (e.g. summer programs) and staff development projects will also be organised.
The details of the academics, staff and students’ mobility between the two Faculties are governed by the Cooperation Agreement which was signed by both Deans, Ivan Kotuliak and Joseph Hun-wei Lee. In terms of the Agreement, the teaching stay of academic staff could last a full semester, or a limited period (e.g. summer school), or an agreed time during the semester. Each party may also send five students each semester or a maximum of ten students per academic year, without paying tuition fees to the host institution. The language of instruction for the mobility students will be English at both universities.
Dean Hun-wei Lee also presented invitation from the MUST Rector for Oliver Moravčík, the STU Rector, and Ivan Kotuliak, the STU FIIT Dean to visit the university in Macau.
