The international project “Interactive Manufacturing @ Schools” funded by EIT Manufacturing presents an opportunity to share up to now experiences with engaging students and teachers from secondary schools within the consortium from RIS countries and to create a model how to attract pupils and teachers towards technical studies focused on Manufacturing and Industry 4.0 in RIS countries.
The project seeks to be more interactive and strongly oriented on manufacturing and practical aspects of study in connection with industry sector and serve as an example and inspiration for other RIS and EU countries to address and tackle deficiency of quality work power in the area of Manufacturing.
Activities in this project help to increase the number of future students interested in the technical studies and Manufacturing by showing the students the quality of the universities in their own countries, trying to prevent the brain drain from RIS region. The aim is to encourage young people to become more aware of the importance to create value in their home countries. The activity also focuses on having a positive impact on secondary school teachers to form stimulating conditions for the young students to evolve their knowledge in manufacturing field.
Additionally, more graduates from universities in technical field also means more potential staff for research institutes and more qualified work power in the labour market.
The project is led by Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (Slovakia) and the partners are University of Tartu (Estonia), Laboratory for Manufacturing Systems & Automation, University of Patras (Greece) and business partner SPINEA (Slovakia).
The main project activities are:
- Webinars and videos
- Workshops for students
- Workshops for teachers
