Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava is largest of the technical universities in Slovakia and generally second largest university in Slovakia. It is a strongly research-oriented university successful in obtaining grants, with a high number of contracts with practice and international cooperation projects in the fields of science and technology.
The following objectives accrue from the STU Long-term Vision:
Education:
To open the University for International Environment in order to provide high-quality, widely accessible and internationally comparable education in the technical and related fields, based on active participation in scientific research and other creative activities oriented to the needs of economic and social practice.
Research and other creative activities:
To widely open STU to international cooperation in the field of research and other creative activities, i. e. to strengthen the position of the University in the European research area; to enhance related research infrastructure and blend education and training with research and other creative activities.
STU has become a member of important international associations, commissions and other international forums. It supports publication and presentation of the science and research results in acknowledged journals and scientific conferences. The University concept documents enshrine the thesis of permanently strengthening the internationalization of all areas of the STU activity.
The international exchange programmes providing mobility of students, teachers and administrative staff play a key role in the process of internationalization. In addition to the most important ERASMUS+ Mobility Programme, students and staff can use other mobility programmes such as CEEPUS, National Scholarship Programme and others. The number of outbound and incoming mobility students keeps growing. This positive trend is proven by the statistical data: compared with the academic year 2010/2011, the number of the STU students sent abroad has increased by 121% in the academic year 2015/2016. When compared to the academic year 2010/11, there was a total increase of 122 % in the number of foreign students admitted to STU in the previous academic year.
STU is holder of the ECTS Label and DS Label awards.
