doc. Ing. Mikuláš Bittera, PhD.
Bursar
Mikuláš Bittera has been working for the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava since 2001. Currently, he is an Associate Professor in the field of electrical engineering. After graduating from the Secondary Technical School of Electronics in Bratislava, he completed his university studies (Bc. and Ing.) at the Slovak University of Technology, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (STU FEI) in the field of Electronics. He obtained his PhD degree in 2007 and the title of associate professor in 2012, both in the field of Measurement Technology. He has been active for many years in various areas of education. From 2015 to 2019, he was the Vice-Dean of the STU FEI for Bachelor degree. Even before, he worked as a pedagogical representative and Head of the Department of Measurement Technology in the STU FEI Institute of Electrical Engineering. In 2014, he coordinated comprehensive accreditation at FEI STU, and, as in 2021, he is currently the person authorized for accreditation at FEI STU.
At present, he focuses mainly on Measurement Technology for all three study degrees. He was a co-guarantor of the doctoral study programme of Measurement Technology, and a member of the departmental commission for the Measurement Technology and Transport PhD study programmes. He is currently one of the five teachers of the key subjects, and a tutor of the Electrical Engineering (Bc. study programme), Applied Electrical Engineering (Master study programme) and Measurement Technology (PhD study programme).
His research deals with the measurement of radiated interference as well as other high-frequency measurements associated with electromagnetic compatibility testing, EMC measurement metrology, numerical simulations of high-frequency electromagnetic fields and special applications in the field of high-frequency technology. He is also an author or co-author of more than 100 publications in these areas. As an investigator, he was involved in a number of domestic and foreign research projects, as well as the projects for practice. He participated in the construction of the High-Tech Centre for Electromagnetic Compatibility. Since 1999, he has been a test technician at the STU FEI Accredited Testing Laboratory, and has participated in the organization of the "EMC courses for electrical equipment designers" for interested parties from practice. He is a member of the international professional organization of IEEE (Electromagnetic Compatibility Society and Instrumentation and Measurement Society).
In the years 2012 – 2015, he was a member of the STU FEI Academic Senate, acting as the Chair of the Staff Section since 2013. Since 2019, he has been a member of the STU Academic Senate, a member of the STU Executive Council of the STU AS Staff Section since 2020, and a member of the newly established Budget Board of STU since 2021. He is a coordinator of the cooperation between STU FEI and CERN, having completed several short-term stays at CERN.
Outside the STU ground, he has long been active as an expert in the field of electrical engineering and electromagnetic compatibility for the Slovak National Accreditation Service. He is a member of the Sector Council for Electrical Engineering, and the Expert Team of Sector-Driven Information, a member of the Slovak Metrology Institute Scientific Board, a member of the Editorial Board of Metrology and Testing Journal, as well as a member of the Golden AMPER Evaluation Committee.
