Prezident Ivan Gašparovič prijal rektora STU Roberta Redhammera a predstaviteľov Autoklastra západné Slovensko, ktorí spolupracujú na projekte implementácie výsledkov vedy a výskumu do automobilovej výroby na Slovensku.
Rektor R. Redhammer informoval, že STU sa chce sústrediť na tento projekt, pretože povaha orientácie na výskum a vývoj je univerzite veľmi blízka. „Trnava má z hľadiska pozície našej univerzity veľkú prioritu rozvoja a rovnako i rozvoja automobilového priemyslu, strojárenstva a chémie,“ dodal.Automobilový klaster – západné Slovensko vznikol v roku 2007 ako koncentrované zoskupenie nezávislých, regionálne prepojených firiem a pridružených inštitúcií s potenciálom zvyšovania ich konkurencieschopnosti. Prezident republiky vyjadril potešenie, že Autoklaster si vybral za partnera práve Slovenskú technickú univerzitu v Bratislave, ktorá disponuje odborným potenciálom.
