Announcement of the election of a candidate for Rector of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava for the term of office from 07 September 2025 to 06 September 2029

Academic Senate of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava pursuant to section 10, par. 5 of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education, and on Amendment and Supplementation to Certain Acts, as amended and internal regulation No. 4/2022 Principles of Election of a Candidate for Rector and Acceptance of a Proposal for the Dismissal of a Rector of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava announces the election of a candidate for Rector of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (hereinafter referred to as “Rector”) for the term of office from 07 September 2025 to 06 September 2029.

The candidate for Rector will be elected during the meeting of the Electoral Assembly on 23 April 2025 at 01:00 p.m. on the premises of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava at Mýtna 36, Bratislava.

The proposals for candidates for Rector can be submitted from 13 December 2024 to 24 March 2025, 02:00 p.m.

Proposals for candidates for Rector may be submitted by a member or a group of members of the academic community of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (hereinafter referred to as “STU”) and by a member or a group of members of the STU Administrative Board.

The proposed candidate for Rector must have at least a second-level university degree and cannot be a member of the Academic Senate of STU or a member of the STU Administrative Board. A person who has been a member of the Executive Board of the Slovak Higher Education Accreditation Agency (hereinafter referred to as “the Agency”) may run for a candidate for Rector not earlier than three years after the expiry of his/her membership in the Agency's Executive Board.

The proposal for a candidate for Rector must include:

• identification of the proposer or proposers: name, surname, titles, date and signature or signatures;
• identification of the proposed candidate: name, surname, titles, permanent address, job title and workplace of the proposed candidate, telephone number, e-mail address;
• a personally signed declaration by the proposed candidate that he/she agrees to stand for Rector.

The annexes to the proposal for a candidate for Rector:

• a certified photocopy of the degree certificate proving the highest level of education attained by the proposed candidate;
• consent to the processing of personal data;
• a professional, structured CV (the professional, structured CV can be submitted together with the proposal for the candidate for Rector or it can be handed in to the Election Committee not later than on 31 March 2025).

STU publishes the recommended Rector candidate proposal form and model consent to the processing of personal data on its website together with the announcement of the election of the candidate for Rector.

Proposals for candidates for Rector of STU should be submitted before the deadline, in paper form, in a sealed envelope marked with:

“PROPOSAL FOR A CANDIDATE FOR RECTOR OF STU – DO NOT OPEN”

The Rector candidate proposal may be submitted in person to the STU Registry Office or sent by mail to the above address so that it is delivered to STU not later than before the deadline for submitting the Rector candidate proposals, i.e. by 24 March 2025 at 2:00 p.m.

The candidates for Rector will be heard in public at the Electoral Assembly meeting on 09 April 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in the Dionýz Ilkovič Aula, Mýtna 36, Bratislava.

The election of a candidate for Rector shall be governed by:

• Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education, and on Amendment and Supplementation to Certain Acts, as amended;
• Internal Regulation No. 4/2022 Rules for Rector Candidate Election and Acceptance of a Proposal for Dismissal of a Rector at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava
• The document “Schedule of the election of the candidate for the Rector of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava for the term of office 2025 – 2029” approved by the Academic Senate of STU on 04 December 2024,
• The document “Organisational instructions for the preparation and process of the election of the candidate for the Rector of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava for the term of office 2025 – 2029” approved by the Academic Senate of STU on 04 December 2024.
