Information
Who is eligible to apply?
Students who meet the following criteria may apply:
- have successfully completed the first year of a bachelor’s degree program,
- are enrolled at STU during the mobility period,
- are citizens of the Slovak Republic, an EU member state, or another country participating in the Erasmus+ program, or have been granted temporary residence in the Slovak Republic.
Each faculty determines its own selection criteria.
When can you apply?
Submit your application via UIS during the two selection rounds.
Round 1: 1 December - 30 January – mobility for the following academic year (both winter and summer semesters)
Round 2: 1 - 30 September – mobility for the summer semester of the current academic year (subject to availability)
The application is binding. If, after applying, you find that you are unable to participate in the mobility program for serious reasons, please inform the Erasmus+ Coordinator at the International Office as soon as possible and state the reason. Valid reasons include academic difficulties, health issues, or serious family circumstances. If you cancel your mobility program without prior notice and without providing a valid reason, you will not be able to submit another application for an Erasmus+ mobility program (study, BIP, or internship). Thank you for your responsible approach to applying for mobility programs.
How long can you study abroad?
You can participate in an Erasmus+ study program for a period of 2 to 12 months within a single degree program.
Study mobility typically lasts one semester (4–6 months).
If you wish to participate in mobility for the entire academic year, you can apply to extend it from the winter to the summer semester using the Mobility Extension Application.
Where can you go?
To any partner university with which your STU faculty has a valid Erasmus+ cooperation agreement.

For more information about available partner universities, please contact your faculty’s Erasmus+ coordinator.
Funding
Every mobility participant is eligible for financial support from EU funds (an Erasmus+ grant) to cover accommodation and travel expenses.
Although the Erasmus+ grant makes it much easier to participate in mobility programs, it does not usually cover all expenses. Students may therefore cover part of their expenses themselves, such as meals, local transportation, or additional activities.
The total amount of support is calculated by the EU Beneficiary Module based on the number of months and days of the student’s stay and the monthly rate for the destination country.
Base Rates for Individual Support for Erasmus+ Study Mobility Participants
| Groups | Receiving Country | Monthly Amount |
| Group 1 (countries with a higher cost of living) | Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, the Netherlands, Ireland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Germany, Norway, Austria, Sweden, Italy (third countries not associated with the program from regions 13 and 14) | 674 € |
| Group 2 (countries with a moderate cost of living) | Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Latvia, Malta, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain | 606 € |
| Group 3 (countries with a lower cost of living) | Bulgaria, Croatia, Lithuania, Hungary, Poland, Romania, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey | 550 € |

Eligible participants may receive an additional inclusion allowance of 250 € per month.
One-time travel expense reimbursement
| Travel Distance | Green Travel | Travel other than Green Travel |
| 10 km - 99 km | 56 € | 28 € |
| 100 km - 499 km | 285 € | 211 € |
| 500 km - 1999 km | 417 € | 309 € |
| 2000 km - 2999 km | 535 € | 395 € |
| 3000 km - 3999 km | 785 € | 580 € |
| 4000 km - 7999 km | 1188 € | 1188 € |
| 8000 km and more | 1735 € | 1735 € |
The amount of the travel allowance depends on the distance between the sending and receiving institutions and on the mode of transportation. The distance is calculated using the calculator available on the European Commission’s website.
“Green travel” refers to the use of eco-friendly modes of transportation, such as trains, buses, or carpooling. In the case of carpooling, at least two people from STU must be traveling together.
For green travel, at least one leg of the trip—either the trip to the mobility event or the trip back from it—must be made using a green mode of transportation. Compliance with this requirement must be documented with a sworn statement and the relevant travel documents.

Process
Before mobility
Listen to the Erasmus+ Unpacked podcast featuring students who have already completed an Erasmus+ study mobility. You can also find useful information in the students’ final reports in UIS.
Consult with your faculty’s Erasmus+ coordinator regarding your choice of university.
If your preferred university is not on the list of partner universities, you can ask the coordinator to look into the possibility of establishing a new Erasmus+ agreement.
Please consult the program coordinator regarding your study plan.
During your Erasmus+ studies, you must earn at least 20 ECTS credits per semester.
If the purpose of the mobility is to complete a thesis, a certificate of completion issued by the host university is required.
You can submit your application through UIS in the following section:
Student Portal → Submit an Application for an Exchange Program
Once the selection process is complete, you will be assigned a partner university based on the results of the selection process and available spots.
After successfully completing the selection process, IRO will nominate you to a foreign university.
Submit your application according to the instructions provided by the foreign university.
Once you receive a Letter of Acceptance from a foreign university, you are officially accepted into the Erasmus+ program.
IRO will create a checklist for you in UIS, which you will use to upload all required documents in the “Before Mobility” section. The OLS online language test is optional.
Once your documents have been approved and reviewed, an Erasmus+ grant agreement will be issued to you. After you sign it, you will receive 80 % of the approved grant. The remaining 20 % will be paid out after you have successfully completed your mobility period and fulfilled all your obligations.
Departure for mobility.
During mobility
During your mobility period, have the Confirmation of Stay document signed and upload it to the UIS checklist.
Courses can be changed within 1 month of the start of the mobility program via OLA Changes.
You can extend your mobility from the winter semester to the summer semester. The request to extend mobility must be approved by the host university, the STU faculty Erasmus+ coordinator, and the STU institutional coordinator no later than one month before the planned end of the mobility period.
After mobility
Within 30 days of the end of the mobility period (for graduating students, no later than before the state exam), upload the following to UIS:
- Confirmation of the duration of the mobility period,
- Transcript of Records (academic transcript),
- and, if you are writing a thesis, an evaluation report signed by your thesis advisor at the host university.
The recognition of courses from Erasmus+ studies falls under the jurisdiction of the faculty. Please contact your faculty coordinator regarding the specific procedure.
After your mobility period ends, you will receive an automatically generated questionnaire from the European Commission (Erasmus+ Participant Report) via email. Completing this questionnaire is a mandatory part of the mobility program.
Share your experiences on UIS. Your experiences will help future Erasmus+ participants choose a university and prepare for their mobility.
After uploading the documents, completing the final report, and filling out the questionnaire, the student will receive the remaining 20% of the grant.
